Returning for Cambodia’s Development – Luy Sokhim

Finally, my academic journey in Australia is coming to an end. Completing my master’s degree overseas was a life-changing experience. I’m so grateful to Australia Awards Scholarships for the opportunity to broaden my career profession, and I’m so excited to return home and contribute to Cambodia’s development.

During my time in Australia, I had many opportunities to enhance my knowledge, build networks, and explore the beautiful Australian landscapes and cultures. A memorable highlight was the opportunity to intern at an Australian organisation. That allowed me to expose myself to an Australian working environment and engage with diverse experts.

Australia has become my home away from home, but now it’s time to say goodbye. Kind and supportive people, natural landscapes, cold weather, fresh coffee, the university campus, and libraries will remain in my memories.

My wife and I have been waiting for two years to return home. We can’t wait to see our three-year-old daughter, whom we miss day and night, and our beloved parents, relatives, and friends. We’ll savour delicious food while sharing experiences from Australia.
