On World Environment Day, we honour Her Excellency NGIN Lina, Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment and a proud Australia Awards alumna, for her dedication to advancing environmental inclusion and sustainability.

With more than a decade of experience, Her Excellency Lina has been a passionate advocate for gender equality, youth empowerment, and inclusive environmental action. She plays a pivotal role in ensuring that climate solutions uplift all communities, especially women and young people, through outreach, advocacy, and public engagement.

Notably, Her Excellency Lina has led the development of Cambodia’s Gender and Environment Mainstreaming Strategy, which empowers women and youth to participate in eco-friendly initiatives and campaigns.

She is a driving force behind impactful public campaigns, including:
“Today, I Don’t Use Plastic”
“Clean Cambodia, Khmer Can Do”
“National Roads Without Plastic Waste”

She has also actively supported the implementation of key Ministry of Environment initiatives – the Circular Strategy on Environment 2023–2028 and the Cambodia Climate Change Strategic Plan 2024–2033.

On this important day, Lina shares a powerful reminder:
“Plastic pollution is a global concern. Even small changes in daily habits can lead to big environmental impacts. Let’s act together today—for a cleaner, healthier tomorrow.”

Her Excellency Lina exemplifies how an Australian education can empower inclusive leaders to champion bold, community-based climate solutions. She was awarded a Master of Health and International Development by Flinders University (2011) under an Australian Awards Scholarship.

Let’s celebrate and join Her Excellency Lina in her mission to combat plastic pollution and protect our planet for future generations.
