On this International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we celebrate Pheap Sochea—the first Indigenous Cambodian to receive an Australia Awards Scholarship—who arrived in Western Australia earlier this year to begin his Master of Development Studies at Murdoch University.

Since settling in, Sochea has enjoyed exploring Perth, meeting new people, and connecting with Murdoch’s Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre to learn more about Australia’s Indigenous history and culture. His journey is inspiring other Indigenous candidates to chase their own dreams.

Happy International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples!
