I feel genuinely excited to be back with my family and community after my graduation. At the same time, it’s hard to believe how fast time has flown. My journey in Australia feels like it began just yesterday, yet it has shaped me in so many meaningful ways.
One of the most defining experiences during my time in Australia was meeting people from many different backgrounds and cultures. Making friends from around the world broadened my perspective and helped me appreciate diversity in a deeper way. I also had the opportunity to experience Australian culture and food. Navigating different cities and places on my own was both challenging and empowering, and feeling safe while doing so gave me confidence and independence that I had never experienced before.
The knowledge I’m most excited to bring back to Cambodia relates to healthcare system management and evidence-based practice in public health. This knowledge has strengthened the way I think, plan, and make decisions in healthcare settings. I hope to use this knowledge to contribute to the development of palliative care in Cambodia, where compassionate, well-structured end-of-life care is increasingly important.
Now that I’m home, I’ll be starting a job in my field of interest, palliative care. I’m looking forward to working alongside my colleagues and supporting ongoing efforts to develop palliative and end-of-life care services in Cambodia. This is a field I’m deeply passionate about, and I hope to make a meaningful contribution by applying what I’ve learned in Australia to improve the quality of care for patients and families in my country.
