Research for Change: Turning Cambodia’s Rice Straw into Cleaner Air and Stronger Farms

With a research grant from the Australia Awards Cambodia, Mr Ing Chhay Por conducted a study on how rice straw burning harms air quality and people’s health.

His team recommends practical alternatives — biochar, compost, animal feed and bioenergy — plus training and support for farmers. With policy support and local action, we can stop burning and breathe cleaner air.

Mr Ing Chhay Por obtained a Master of Public Administration (Policy) from Flinders University in 2016 under an Australia Awards Scholarship.
